Helplessness!

Embracing helplessness

Who we are

We are fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters, a family in which each has individually, directly or indirectly tested the hardship of this life and have decided to pull each and others from life of being helpless victims to victors.

What binds us as a family is the common background and marks we share and our lives are connected to our common native land.

Two are better than one

Why AKAS

Different studies conducted in our communities have revealed how life has become an unbearable burden to any. This has opened doors to major social deviations among both citizens and non-citizens residents.
The mostly non-assisted social integration process is such a hard, lonely and almost an impossible step that anyone visiting the country faces on arrival as an immigrant, or an asylum seeker or an empty-handed refugee.
Life cost has become so expensive that even those earning the daily wage can no longer afford.
AKAS beneficiaries are mostly people whose citizenship statuses and backgrounds do not favour in getting a decent job, and thus unable to meet their basic needs.
Because AKAS members know what hard life is like, with many having experienced the same. They treasure the value of life and the huge positive impact of helping a desperate brother or a sister.
They thus, in one voice, decided to lend a hand:

AKAS, Kivu Solidarity for All, was created.

Making a difference

What we do

As per the objectives assigned to AKAS, we:
Assess the needs in our communities, then develop a plan to accompany and assist the most vulnerable by either supporting them financially and/or orient them to service providers whom would or specialize in assisting them as per their emerging needs (health, shelter, education, livelihood and more)

Lend a hand by coming alongside those who are hurting. AKAS assets, coming mainly from members contributions, are not spared when it comes to lending a hand to a brother or sister in
life distress. Not only we assist financially but all members make it their priority and obligation to physically, morally and spiritually stand alongside those affected.

It is our culture to carry one another’s burdens. Thus we celebrate life with those who are celebrating, rejoicing with those who are rejoicing, not as spectators but sharing the smile, making sure the success of one is celebrated as the success of all.

We regularly meet on several occasions and share skills and experiences that benefit the community and lights a path for sharing common goals, but also to develop strategies as fitted to face today matters and plan for a better tomorrow for the community and the future generation.

We build lasting relationships
